Andrews v. Lawrence Livermore Nat'l Security

In this employment discrimination proceeding, Plaintiff Elaine Andrews and others alleged Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC of discriminating on the basis of age as most of the senior staff including scientists and engineers who were nearing retirement, were laid off by the company in 2008 without any other grounds. In total, 430 employees were laid off by the company Lawrence Livermore National Security after it was privatized in 2008 by Lawrence Livermore National security, LLC.
The plaintiff and other joining plaintiffs were represented by attorneys Gary Gwilliam, Randall Strauss and Robert Schwartz. The defendant in this case, Lawrence Livermore National Security, LLC was represented by attorneys Patricia Gillette, Andrew Livingston, Warrington Parker and Brooke Arena.


The five laid off employees received damages that ranged from $242,000 to $853,000.
